We are pleased to announce the screening of the movie Libertate and an opportunity to meet its director, Tudor Giurgiu.

Libertate sets place during Romania's 1989 revolution, the city of Sibiu witnesses a violent attack on a police station that spirals into armed clashes between soldiers, police, protesters and secret police. Director Tudor Giurgiu' Libertate has swept up the 18th Gopo Awards, which celebrates the best of the Romanian film industry. Libertate won a total of 10 awards including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor, and tied for Best Screenplay with Radu Jude's Do Not Expect Too Much From The End of the World.

The event will take place on Thursday, May 9 at 6 p.m. at the August Coppola Theatre at San Francisco State University. The reception starts at 6 p.m. and the screen starts at 7 p.m. There will also be a Q&A session with director Tudor Giurgiu and Steve Kovacs, Professor Emeritus of the School of Cinema at San Francisco State University.
