The School of Cinema at San Francisco State University warmly invites all students to: 

Discussions about “Political Correctness” Oct. 7 and 10 Controversies have erupted over THE BIRTH OF A NATION (1915) at a university in Ohio and the decision to cover up a mural at George Washington High School in San Francisco. Cinema Professors Steve Kovacs and Joseph McBride will discuss these issues in Film and Society classes Monday and Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the Coppola Theater, open to all SF State University students.

and Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. / Screening and Discussion. BIRTH OF A MOVEMENT(2017) chronicles the nation-wide African American movement against THE BIRTH OF A NATION (1915) and recently galvanized activism by African American students. The faculty rolls out our new Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Access (EDIA) committee and Statement of Values at this event in the Coppola Theater, FA101. This screening is co-sponsored by the Black Unity Center.
