Cinema Classes Update for Spring 2018 -- from School Director
Dear Majors,
On Monday the University will post the schedule of classes for Spring 2018. We want to let those of you who want to take upper division production and screenwriting classes that currently we are offering fewer of these classes for Spring 2018 than we have been able to offer in the past few terms. This reduction is unfortunately due to budget restrictions coming from the University level and not a Departmental decision. We hope that some additional upper division production and screenwriting courses will be approved later by the Administration to augment the current roster — but please form no expectations of this. The portfolio process will proceed for Spring 2018 as it did for the current term and is coordinated by the Production Coordinator, Caio Simbula. Caio will be sending out an email later today outlining the process clearly for you, with a link to the form. We will do our best to accommodate as many students in these classes as we can, and will be using a strict, objective priority system based on class rank and number of units earned. The portfolio processes for Animation and 620 are different and if you are unsure how to apply for those classes, please contact Jason Jakaitis (for 620) and Martha Gorzycki (for Animation).
This is a heads-up so you can think through your options for Spring with as much information as possible.
Have a good weekend!
Best,
Britta Sjogren
