It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cinema Professor Dina Ciraulo. Dina passed away February 7th after battling cancer. She had been teaching cinema production at CCSF since 2000, mentoring hundreds of Bay Area students in the art of cinema. Her feature film Opal, about self-taught naturalist and cult icon Opal Whiteley, premiered at the Mill Valley Film Festival in 2010. Dina’s short films have screened nationally and internationally and she was an active member of the Bay Area film community. Dina’s most passionate efforts centered around helping students. She will be missed beyond measure.
