Tarek Elhaik receives funding from the Getty Foundation

The Getty Foundation has made the official announcement about its initiative Pacific Standard Time II: Los Angeles/ Latin America. Tarek is part of a team of six researchers that have been generously funded. Theirr collaborative effort, hosted by the Los Angeles Film Forum, will begin in August 2014 and culminate in an anthology as well as various curatorial platforms to be exhibited in 2017. The group of six researchers will explore in detail the proposed theme of "Experimental Media in Latin America."  In addition to the collaborative work, each will be responsible for a chapter and a curatorial platform.  Together and individually, they will examine and curate important connections between experimental cinema/media arts, technology, science, activism, anthropology, and contemporary art.  The link below includes information about other funded institutions and exhibitions that will be occurring in LA. This is exciting news that brings together curation and scholarship, indeed scholarship as a form of curation.
