SF State University Cinema Archive Project Event On 2/9 Black History Month
Dear Cinema Community:
Please see below for the first of The Archive Project's events for Spring 2021 curated by SFSU Cinema alumnus and Resident Curator Stephen Kane.
This event honors Black History Month and continues our focus on Race, Rebellion, and Resistance with its attention to Native American films and filmmakers.
Especially during this period of quarantine, we hope you connect with us. To see the films from your predecessors as SFSU CINEMA students and their interlocutors among other filmmakers is so special. Congratulations to curator Stephen Kane!
See you all there on Tuesday, 2/9 at 6pm,
Celine
To kick off the SFSU School of Cinema's Archive Project's Spring series focusing on Race, Rebellion, and Resistance, Resident Curator Stephen Kane will present “Archive of Hidden Voices” which will showcase some of the cinematic representations and expressions of Black and Native Americans in the mid-20th Century and the historical contexts that produced them. With all of the titles being part of the Archive Project's celluloid collection, his presentation will also explore the importance of preserving obscure and "less refined" works of art in their original format.
