Lecturer Applications


Individuals who wish to be considered for Adjunct Lecturer appointments which occasionally become available in the School of Cinema may fill out the application below. Please upload a current CV and include a brief letter outlining your teaching experience, interests and competencies. Your application will remain active for one calendar year, after which time you should reapply to maintain eligibility. You will be contacted if a position opens up for which you are being considered.

Call for Applications, Cinema Lecturer Pool

The School of Cinema at SF State is accepting applications for projected lecturer opportunities in Fall 2021. To be considered for these positions, please fill out the application at Submittable.com and upload a one-page cover letter outlining your teaching interests, along with a current CV, by (TBA). If you have recently sent us these materials, you do not need to re-send, but please get in touch to confirm your interest in being considered. Applications received after (TBA) will be considered for emerging opportunities, but not for assignments currently being planned for Spring 2021.

The positions that are available, pending funding and final approval from the college dean, include:

  • Projects in Film Editing
  • 16mm Cinematography
  • Digital Cinematography
  • Fundamentals of Screenwriting
  • Advanced Lighting Techniques
  • Writing About Cinema
  • Exploration in Cinema as an Online Medium


The SFSU School of Cinema has set up the online form to apply for positions as Lecturer Faculty for the Fall 2021 semester. The application asks for a fair amount of information about your background, skills, availability and preferences as well as a list of 2 references.

The deadline to submit the application is Friday, April 16.  


We are enclosing a list of Fall undergraduate courses that will likely require Lecturer Faculty. Due to student demand for F2F production classes, these will likely be F2F. Please note that this list is tentative and is subject to change. Moreover, the schedule often undergoes some revisions, so please be aware that some flexibility on your part will likely be necessary.
