PROFESSOR JOHNNY SYMONS BRINGS AN AI TO SUNDANCE
Being (the Digital Griot) is a non-binary artificial intelligence who writes and reads poetry and teaches workshops that help people decolonize their minds. Created by artist Rashaad Newsome and produced by Cinema professor Johnny Symons, Being will lead an interactive experience as part of the New Frontier showcase at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Being is a key character in Symons and Newsome’s forthcoming feature documentary Get Your 10s, on which Cinema students and alums have worked as editors, cinematographers, associate producers and interns.
